Three Ways to Get Positive Attention on Twitter

Generating positive attention on Twitter is important for networking on both personal and professional levels. Compose tweets that include the names of people in your network, whether these people are users that you follow or other connections. Create an effective Twitter profile using the outlined tips. Customizing tweets is another great way to garner positive attention. You may have just earned yourself a new follower, a read of recent tweets, and a new subscriber to your linked website.

Getting positive attention on Twitter is important for online networking at both personal and professional levels. Twitter is a social media network that is gaining popularity daily since its inception in 2006. Jack Dorsey may not have realized the magnitude of the website when he launched the platform!

You sign in to Twitter daily to compose tweets or public messages, and wonder why you are not getting more reads to your posted information. There are ways to get positive attention on Twitter, which translates to more followers and more reads of your shared content. There are three ways to become more visible on Twitter and develop a positive image.

Mentions Users in Your Tweets

One way to get positive attention on Twitter is to compose tweets that include the names of people in your network, whether these people are your followers or outside of your direct connections. Include users' handle names, such as @christy, in your tweets. By using handle names, your tweets will appear in the “Mentions” section of their Twitter accounts. Many users check for mentions at least once a day as a major communication lead.

Mention users within tweets, given the limited number of characters, by using popular abbreviations. For example, try using #FF (Follow Friday). The #FF mention is a way to both acknowledge another user and do a kind act for that person by encouraging other users to follow him or her on Twitter. If that mentioned person is not already following you, this may be the encouragement needed to click the “Follow” button to subscribe to your electronic feed.

Whether the mentioned users choose to follow you on Twitter or not, chances are good that they will take a look at your profile in response to reading your personalized tweets. Their curiosity is aroused. Users may read your recent tweets and also click any media links listed in your high-quality Twitter bio.

You may have just earned yourself a few new followers, reads of your recent tweets, and even new subscribers to your linked website. Now that is positive attention!

Create an Effective Twitter Profile

Another way to get positive attention on Twitter is by creating an effective profile. Essential elements are a well-written bio and high-quality photo. Specific ways to put together the bio are explained in How to Write a Quality Bio on Twitter

Take the time to create a professional profile. The profile reflects you, whether your reasons for using Twitter is personal or professional. Take the time to complete your profile and use quality information to ensure the best connections can be made.

Users who read your well-crafted profile will want to delve further into your content under the assumption that a quality bio indicates a quality connection. Quality content creates positive attention for your Twitter profile and therefore for you as an individual.

Customize Your Tweets

Customize your tweets to get positive attention on Twitter. The “tweet” sharing button on many websites is a quick way to relay website links to Twitter. The majority of the time, the original headline of the article or photo is automatically pasted to Twitter along with the link. Modify the headline or descriptor in your tweet as a way to customize the information.

For example, modify the original title of “How to Be worth Following on Twitter” to “Do you want to be worth following on #twitter?” when you re-share the article on Twitter. The condensed URL for the article follows next within the tweet. The question is more appealing to the reader and seems more casual than the original headline. Curiosity is created in the reader that urges him or her to click the posted link.

Combining a uniquely-worded tweet with a quality media content link is a great way to draw positive attention on Twitter. The result is more reads to your tweets and more followers. Draw readers to your Twitter profile in a positive way as well by mentioning other users directly and by creating a well-polished profile.
