If you havenÃÂt heard about twitter, then IÃÂll tell you what it is. ItÃÂs a social networking site where you follow people, and they follow you. You communicate back and forth in 140 character messages called tweets. You know your facebook status, where you let your friends know what youÃÂre up to? Twitter is doing that. Over and over again. And itÃÂs really fun, but also useful.
Now, if you have heard about twitter ÃÂ and all of you have, since you just read that last paragraph ÃÂ then whatÃÂs to stop you from joining? Nothing. ItÃÂs free. Well, you might respond, it will cost me some of my time, and I have so little. You might say, it seems complicated, and how will I find people who are interested in what I have to say? Well, this article is written to quiet and answer some of your concerns. ItÃÂs also only a teensy, tiny, slightest bit biased.
Without further delay, here are four reasons why you should join twitter:
You can meet people who are interested in what youÃÂre interested in. Whether your area of interest lies in cooking, wine, software development, writing, horticulture, parenting, cats, or just about anything, there are likely to be people on twitter tweeting about that very topic. ItÃÂs a great way to get quick, easy to swallow, concise blasts of information, in a fun and interactive way. This information comes in convenient little 140 word packages, meaning all the excess fat and blah-blah-blah has been cut away.
You can advertise your product, website, whatever. You can tweet about your blog posts, your latest factoid ÃÂ whatever you want the world to know about. The more followers you have, the bigger your marketing scope is. I have Google Analytics, and the majority of my websiteÃÂs visitors come from twitter.
You can get answers to your questions. Twitter users are a savvy bunch. Say you have a question. Where is the best place for brunch in San Diego? How do I clean my keyboard? WhatÃÂs the best way to console my kitten after having him fixed? Twitter offers an outlet for you to ask these questions, and with (almost) immediate answers. Am I forgetting something? No, factoidz offers this opportunity as well, but for the times when you want an in depth, detailed answer to you question. Twitter is for the times when you want to know now. Plus, twitter users are not only savvy, but they like helping each other out.
The last, and best reason, I have already mentioned. ItÃÂs fun! And you might make friends. ItÃÂs nice to know that youÃÂre able to be social in your pajamas, with a hot cocoa, and that old S Club 7 c.d. playing that youÃÂre so embarrassed of.
